Dr. Jack Spector has been a practicing clinical neuropsychologist for more than 30 years.
Dr. Spector conducts objective and independent psychological and neuropsychological evaluations of teens, adults, and elders with suspected traumatic brain injuries, neurological diseases, dementias and degenerative disorders, movement disorders, toxic exposures, psychiatric disorders (including post-traumatic stress disorder), somatoform and functional neurologic disorders, and chronic pain syndromes.
Dr. Spector regularly provides workshops, seminars, and other continuing education activities to physicians, attorneys, colleagues, and trainees. He has published book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals on topics including traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, brain tumors, somatoform disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, toxic exposures, and malingering.
Services Offered:
Dr. Spector’s practice is largely assessment-oriented, but he performs individual, couples, and family psychotherapy on a selective basis, largely in cases involving neurologic injury or disease.
Dr. Spector specializes in diagnosis and treatment planning for a number of neurologic and psychiatric conditions such as traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders, stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease/Mild Cognitive Impairment and other types of degenerative disorders, neurotoxic exposures, infectious diseases, and complex medical conditions. Dr. Spector provides neuropsychological consultation for adolescents and teens, adults, and elders.
Consultations and examinations are performed at the request of health care professionals, case managers, insurance carriers, attorneys, the courts, parents/ guardians, and via self-referral. Contexts include differential diagnosis, diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, fitness for duty, the need for work or activity restrictions, disability determination, competency and capacity, and criminal responsibility/ mitigation.
Dr. Spector does not participate in federal, state, or private health insurance. Pro-bono and sliding scale consultations are available on a case-by-case basis.
